It would definitely catch what goes on in the yard. Seeing through a window across the street in daylight is not going to be very successful.   What is the range on the camera lens itself. Cameras don't really have a range per se they have either a set number of pixels or TV lines. The more the better if you want to pick up details from far away. But if you are looking for facial recognition across a street the answer is probably no. This camera comes with 720p.   Also, can it be set to just run constantly and constantly show video online?
